Kagnew Station |

As you know, in addition to reading the
military newspaper the Stars & Stripes, we at Kagnew were lucky enough to
have our own post newspaper. The first Gazelle that someone sent me was from
the month that I arrived there so it was pretty exciting reading it. As time
permits and I can put the pages together, you will be able to go back and read
these issues. If you have some you'd like to share with everyone, to get them posted. Note: I will be scanning some Gazelles in Adobe PDF () format. When you see this icon next to an issue, click the icon for the PDF version. You may need to upgrade your Adobe Reader which is available free at the Adobe web site. |

Tom Curran, 64-66, was editor of the
Kagnew Gazelle. He has sent me two years of Gazelles, plus a few other items
that I will be posting here. I also have more copies of Nancy Rogers' issues to
post below so this might take a couple of years to finish. At least you will
have something to look forward to each time you visit. I will begin with the
issue involving a change of Kagnew command. 29 January 1966, Vol. 10, No. 17 (Col. William Malone assumes command) 11 February 1966, Vol. 10, No. 18 (Hugh Downey returns to build orphanages and schools) |

Nancy Rogers, daughter of Kagnew CO, Col Orman G. Charles (Ret. BG), sent me a large envelope full of Kagnew Gazelles. These are amazing as they represent some of the highlights of Kagnew history. It took me a half hour to get the first page scanned and pieced together so this will take some time. Check the Updates page as I will post there when I add new pages. It's only appropriate that the first page I post is the FIRST Kagnew Gazelle, Volume 1, Number 1, dated 29 Apr 1955! Thanks Nancy. Christmas Gazelle from December 18, 1970
(courtesy of Jerry Neimeier) Pages [1] [4] [5] [6] NOTE: This is a multiple page listing of everyone who was stationed at Kagnew Christmas 1970, according to the Gazelle staff. There may be missing names, but those people would have to come forward to indicate they were there at the time. I have no means of verifying the information here. I typed this all in using a copy from the original Gazelle. There were no name listings on pages 2 & 3. (July '09): Dave Nelson has supplied me with this Gazelle and I have scanned it in it's original form. Seems what I had was pages 3-7 and it was the middle section of the paper. The listing of personnel was on these pages and it was wrapped in another section. Now you can see all the pages. Thanks Dave!
