"DOCK SIDE"
BY BOB ZAJACK
Another week gone by and it still amazes me how fast the time goes by. Before going into the local news, I would once again like to stress the water conservation program. I realize we are all trying to conserve the water by following all of the rules which have been published such as using a bucket to water the flowers etc. However, when I see some people, and it is not one or two families but a large number of them, using 10 buckets of water every morning to water the flowers, I fail to see how they are really conserving water. All one has to do is drive around the Tracts and see the beautiful green lawns and we will know who the violators are. Why it bothers me so much is that when the water is finally cut off, like it more than likely will be, then all of us will suffer. I do not care to go through water hours again! ! I can see a moderate use of water for the flowers but not this much!! Enough about that.

I just called the TV station and the NCOIC was kind enough to give me the following information so that the public would be aware of the current problems they are having. One of the major components had to be sent back to the factory for overhaul, however, they expect this part to be returned in approximately 2 weeks. Since the part they are currently using makes it almost impossible for them to transmit a perfect picture, you will notice a slight lack of quality in the transmission. Just be patient and be happy that we at least still have TV. The personnel at AFTV are doing all they possibly can. If there are any changes in the arrival date, I'll be sure to let you know. Again, a "THANKS" to SFC Baker and all of the AFRS—TV personnel for the fine job they are doing.

The other day I received a phone call from a very indignant member of the SHARKS, ET1Pelkey, who informed me that currently the SHARKS are doing much better than I led the readers to believe in last weeks edition. Therefore, I called the Ball Field and received the current standings: GAFFS...4-1 ANCHORS... 2-3 SHARKS... 4-2 DOLPHINS... 2-2 Therefore, I humbly apologize to the Day Workers. A "WELL DONE" to all of the NAVY teams for the fine performance they are giving in the Post Softball League.

Some useful information to you Auto mechanics. In case you haven't had the opportunity to
use the Auto Hobby Shop on Kagnew, by all means, drop over there and see what is available. They even have an air fed grease gun so that you can grease your car like the professionals. This just goes to show you that if you take the time to look around you will see that we really have a lot of services available to us.

One more thing.. . . I noticed all of the new construction going on in the TOP 5 Club and after talking to the management I found out that the new portion, which is the old Transportation Office, is to become the Stag Bar. The Present Stag Bar is to become the new Office and the old Office is to become the
TOP 5 Barber Shop. 0. K.? Our closing thought for the week...

Never before has the Petty Officer needed professional skills as he does today. In view of the tremendous demands of modern war power, our nation's human and material resources are no longer limited. But it is not enough to know the technical skills of the professional, for over and above this, there is the necessity to acquire that deep sense of moral responsibility, of pride in the service, of concern for the welfare of those under him and above him which combined with integrity, are the marks of a good Petty Officer.

Until next week CIAO
