branch of the Voice of America, gave a lecture on African music. Mr. Sarkisian explained why and how the music of Africa is different from the music of the West, and provided several examples of African music with tapes he has recorded in his travels. Mr. Sarkisian is also as accomplished artist and displayed many examples of his work. The assembly was one of the best this school has had in quite a while.

There was also an assembly Thursday. This was the annual induction ceremony of the National Honor Society for grades 7-12. NHS members presented the program, and used short speeches,
poems, and slides, to define the four criteria qualities of the National Honor Society. These qualities are character, scholarship, leadership, and service. This was followed by the actual induction of six new members who are:
Marie Jerry, a Senior; Greg Lenihan, a junior; Mike Proctor, a seventh-grader; Ellen Kings-tom, also seventh.grader; Mark Breese, an eighth-grader; and Robert Lyons, an eighth-grader.

As each new member came forward, a slide of him was shown. Capt. Duane Woodliff, assistant Judge Advocate here, was a guest speaker.
