I recently exchanged emails with Ralph Reinhold and Dan Carr
about Google Earth. Unless you have been living in a cave recently or just
don't keep up with new advances on the web, this is something to see. It is
called Google Earth and it is a free download from google.com. You load the
software on your computer and you're able to zoom in on satellite photos of
many places in the world. One of those places is Asmara, Kagnew Station and the
surrounding area. It is amazing the first time you see it. I'm going to try to post a few of the screen captures that Dan, Ralph and I have been able to come up with. But don't stop there, go to google.com and download the software and see for yourself. Start out by searching out your own house to see how close you can get. Remember though that not every spot on earth is available, but there is enough to keep you busy for hours! |
