GIs in Eritrea Told to Shoot if Attacked

ASMARA, Eritrea, May 1. (up) -United States troops have been instructed to shoot in self- defense and American vehicles ordered to travel in armed convoys following an attack by 30 native terrorists Sunday on five GIs. Only one of the five suffered injuries.

My note: (Jerry Pry)
That soldier was John Cramer of Butler PA. Okie you should know him. I was on that trip from Massawa that Sunday. At the scene of the shooting, the CO gave me and another GI a rifle and order us in his car as guards on the rest of the trip to Asmara.
